On the occasion of 145th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 2nd October 2014, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji announced “Swachh Bharat Mission” to fulfill the dream of Clean India which was envisioned by Shri Gandhi. Prime Minister called all the people of India from village, Mohallas to Colonies of Metro Cities to participate in this big cleaning process and make Nation free from dirt with your cleanliness drive. In this regard the cleaning mission is being observed in different parts of the country in different ways. Vijayapur which is known for its glorious history also conducted the abhiyaan.

“Swachh Vijayapur Abhiyan” started under the leadership of Umesh Vandal , Corporator Ward Number 03,Vijayapur City Corporation ,and Dr Prashanth Kadkol with youthful team of 40 to 50 members in association with Corporation Vijayapur. Senior citizens also joined with the mission enthusiastically. Swachh Vijayapur Abhiyan started on occasion of “Karnataka Rajyotsav” on 1 November 2016 from Ward Number 03. Teams dedicated two hours daily during morning from 6 to 8.

One day Swach Vijayapur Team conducted swachhata abhiyan in "Golasangi Village" .In Golsangi ,inspired by us they also started swachhata in village and completed four weeks.
